After a disaster, the provincial government may declare an event eligible for Disaster Financial Assistance (DFA). Once declared, the DFA program may provide applicants with financial assistance to restore uninsurable losses that are essential to your home, livelihood or community service.
This overland flooding event has been classified as eligible.
Residents are encouraged to check the DFA Website directly to learn more about the program and determine eligibility.
Residents can also call 1-877-257-4777
The deadline for starting a claim is August 14th, 2023.
We are currently speaking with other agencies regarding removal of flood debris. We will have more information in this soon.
Free sand and sandbags are available for residents to fill and use to protect their property. Bring your own shovel. Community members are always welcome to fill sandbags and leave them for others who need them, or assist others filling bags.
