Both documents have been modernized to reflect current provincial requirements, community needs, and best practices in land use planning. Accumulated amendments to the Zoning Bylaw have also been consolidated into a single, easier-to-use document.

The updated Official Community Plan maps flood hazard areas along Cache Creek and the Bonaparte River so that residents and developers have clear information before making decisions. Development in these areas is not prohibited, but must meet specific standards designed to protect people and property. The Village's role is to make sure that anyone building near the water understands and accepts the risks involved.

The updated plan allows for more housing types throughout the Village, including townhouses, basement suites, and accessory dwelling units on existing lots. These changes give homeowners and developers more flexibility while helping address the community's housing needs. The Village projects it will need approximately 223 new housing units over the next 20 years.
The draft Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw are available for you to review. These are your community's planning rules - the documents that guide decisions about housing, development, flood safety, and what Cache Creek looks like for the next 20 years.
